The Mount Paran Christian boys golf team shot a second-round 300 and finished tied for fifth in the Class A private-school state golf tournament Tuesday at Green Island Country Club in Columbus.
The Eagles were 11 shots behind state champion Christian Heritage, which finished the two-day tournament with a score of 17-over par 585. Brookstone and Holy Innocents’ (587) tied for second, with Darlington (591) fourth. Mount Paran and First Presbyterian Day came in at 596.
Connery Meyer led the way with rounds of 73-69 to finish at even-par and tied for fifth place in the individual competition. Parker Rostowsky (70-73) was one shot further back in a tie for seventh, while Luke Dayton (78-79) finished in a tie for 33rd.
Darlington’s Lindsey Cordell won the individual title with rounds of 70-69 to finish at 3-under. Brookstone’s Bo Blanchard (68-72) was second, tied with Holy Innocents’ Cannon Crane (71-69) and Prince Avenue Christian’s Peyton Shedd (71-69) was fourth.
Walker’s Patrick Reddick and North Cobb Christian’s Zakary Krickich qualified as an individuals. Reddick (74-84) tied for 36th, while Krickich tied for 70th.
In the girls tournament, Walker shot a final-round 168 to finish in a tie for seventh.
Ella Stoll (91-76) improved by 15 shots from Day 1 to Day 2 to finish in a tie for 11th. Anna Class (91-92) finished in a tie for 21st.
Darlington won the team title with a two-day total of 17-over 309. Athens Academy (314) was second while Atlanta International (319), Tallulah Falls (324) and Brookstone (332) rounded out the top five. Walker finished at 351.
Athens Academy’s Meredith Bennett (78-71) won the individual title by two shots over Atlanta International’s Meghna Grover (74-77).
