Your article about the generous donation of Norman Rockwell prints reminded me of my recent visit to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Little Whitehouse in Warm Springs, GA. FDR was the most heralded of all of the Democrat presidents, in large part because of his New Deal. The New Deal mostly created jobs. They were not handouts, but jobs that were building infrastructure. The jobs and the infrastructure were both desperately needed in a time of great depression and that made him a hero to many people.
One of the interesting items on display was The Four Freedoms, four paintings made by Norman Rockwell based on a speech that FDR gave identifying these four freedoms — Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.
The terrifying thing is that while FDR, the most heralded of Democrat presidents, espoused these freedoms, our current Democrat party is doing their darnedest to eliminate three of them — freedom of speech, freedom of worship, and freedom from fear. If they succeed, the fourth, freedom from want, will be eliminated through yet another of their unintended consequences.
