DEAR EDITOR:

The Constitution makes it clear that D.C. is a unique Federal District. Changing that status requires an Amendment to eliminate the violation of Article 1, sec. 8, clause 7 and the 23rd Amendment. The purpose of the creation of the District of Columbia was to minimize the influence of the federal government on the adjoining states and protect the federal government from the states.

If you choose to eliminate D.C., the land should revert back to the state of Maryland from which it was created and citizens of D.C. should become citizens of Maryland. D.C. is ridiculously too small to be a state at 69 square miles Anything else is just a power grab.
