Qcells, maker of solar panels, is making the largest clean energy investment in U.S. history and doing it in Georgia, with production at its two new facilities expected to bring 2500 jobs to the state in less than two years. Leaders in the company acknowledge that the Inflation Reduction Act passed in late 2022 encouraged them to make the investment. Our own Sen. Jon Ossoff authored some of the provisions associated with solar energy and of course he and Sen. Raphael Warnock were signatories to the bill.
Solar energy is one of the important tools in our nation’s climate arsenal to help reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. This investment demonstrates that making the right decisions to invest in the health and livability of the environment for our children also helps the economy by providing jobs. Since solar energy helps mitigate climate change, it contributes to a stronger future economy by reducing funding needed for climate change disaster relief. It also helps decrease the dependence of our country on foreign fossil fuels. It is a win-win no matter your politics.
