DEAR EDITOR:

The Democrats need a new narrative. Presently, all twenty something presidential aspirants are running on a variation of this: Trump is a big jerk and here’s what I’ll give you if you elect me.

In reaction to the former, the candidates whine incessantly about his misspeaks and outrageous emotional outbursts. They harp on about impeachment, Mueller, Barr, tax returns and executive privilege among others. All because they don’t like this eminently polarizing individual. He may be a jerk, but he has them wasting their energy and political capital.

On policy, every Democratic contender seems to think that “cost” is simply something to be born by those ultra-rich tax cheaters and greedy corporations who have more money than they know what to do with. These new Democratic leaders will bring about real change that people want! Meanwhile, these greedy corporations are offering more jobs than there are people to fill them. Wages are rising for everyone, unemployment is at 50 year lows for all categories and demographics, GDP is growing. But we want to change that? Why? Because Trump is an egotistical blowhard?

The signature issue for Democrats, health care reform, lies dormant. And Trump is the only candidate who is pressing to secure our southern border from literally thousands of illegal immigrants who cross every single day. He might win on that issue alone. I’m thinking beyond whether I like Trump. I’m thinking about what’s good for the country. I don’t like Trump one bit. But he’s the best choice.
