I am responding to Mr. George Will’s column, 11/5/19, “In baseball, the most valuable rules are unwritten.”
I have cut out the article to share them with my grandson who is a high school junior, a gentleman, a baseball player and a scholar. I have seen how much he has developed from a child to a young man while playing baseball since T-ball.
He has learned the importance of hard work, sportsmanship, fairness, and friendship. He has played on his high school team and on community and travel teams. The boys I have observed respect their teammates, their coaches, and their parents and also their opponents. I am always inspired, whether win or lose, the players all line up and shake hands with each other.
These are the things I think are good about sports.
