DEAR EDITOR:

After reading the front-page article in the Tuesday, May 7, 2019, MDJ, It stated that some members of the school board, Charisse Davis and Jaha Howard want to explore changes to the “Senior Tax Exemption.”

Stop and smell the coffee. I could have predicted this snafu right after my head exploded! They have SPLOST, and the Cobb County Board of Commissioners are approving community after community of 55 and older developments. This clearly means a decrease in school tax revenue.

It appears as if the left hand has no idea what the right is doing. Understand the impact of your decisions on “tax revenue.” I have never met a politician who cannot resist the temptation to increase taxes. Get your collective act together, learn how to live within your budgets and don’t penalize senior citizens. You, Cobb County Government, are creating this problem.
