DEAR EDITOR:

It is still my belief (now more than a belief) that the only ground transportation system that makes any sense for the Atlanta Metro Area is AEV. A properly designed AEV system will result in 80-90% fewer vehicles on the road, no greenhouse gases or particulates (No emissions of any sort).

About 40,000 deaths in the USA and 1.2 million globally annually due to auto crashes 94% of which caused by human error will be eliminated. Those numbers are dwarfed by the number — 6.5 million — who succumb annually to air pollution. I am getting a bit annoyed with power companies continuing to kill us and shortening our lives!! I look forward to finally be able to breathe clean air! An Air Quality Index of “A” as measured by the American Lung Association: Wonder what it will be like? It will certainly be a unique experience. Gwinnett and Fulton still get an AQI of “F”! It is time that we awoke from our deep slumber and eliminate harmful emissions getting into our atmosphere from all sources!

A first goal to be attained should be the conversion of all ICE vehicles to AEV by 2025. Next goal should be the replacement of “dirty” coal, gas, oil and other methods of combustion to produce dirty energy. The source of that replacement energy should be from rooftop solar. Solar is now by far the cheapest method of of energy production. California offers rebates for the installation of solar and batteries to store that power until needed. Tesla makes a battery called a power wall. The power wall has an “off-grid” option which should be fully investigated. California now has over 1 million rooftop solar installations. I can’t think of a more foolproof method of providing protection from terrorists than 1 million backup units operating independently.
