DEAR EDITOR:

The people of Georgia deserve honesty and consistency from their elected officials. Shortly after Antonin Scalia’s death on Feb 13, 2016, and almost nine months before the 2016 presidential election, Sen. David Perdue stated that “(t)he very balance of our nation’s highest court is in serious jeopardy. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will do everything in my power to encourage the president and Senate leadership not to start this process until we hear from the American people.”

Now, weeks before the 2020 presidential election with voters in Georgia already casting absentee ballots, Justice Ginsburg has died and Perdue is in a big hurry to appoint a new judge before the election, creating an even more unbalanced Supreme Court without hearing from the American people. David Perdue cannot be trusted to represent the people of Georgia.
