The coronavirus pandemic is threatening the safety of the entire world. Now is the time for the United States to not only protect our country but also invest in global responses abroad in order to prevent future outbreaks.
This is why I urge our Georgia Rep. Lucy McBath, and our Georgia senators, David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, to respond to the virus outbreak by urging Congress to authorize annual funding for global health security programs. Our representatives in Congress have already generously supported legislation to aid foreign health. Thank you to our senators for cosponsoring the Global Health Security Act and thank you to Rep. McBath for cosponsoring the End Tuberculosis Now Act.
As the virus begins to spread more and more, it becomes a greater responsibility and duty of the United States government to increase funding for global health security programs. With this action, the world will be safer as a whole.
