DEAR EDITOR:

I come from a family of seven. My father worked three jobs. I worked, skimped, saved, did without and even invested a little so that my children could go to college. They have, as have their children.

I assume you have heard this story many times before. However, this one has a twist. If I am a true human being, and having been raised Christian, why would I want another American, or anyone else, to have to do the same things I had to suffer through?

All Americans can send their kids to school free through high school, and this is probably what allowed our nation to flourish. If just a few of the children who want to go to college, but cannot afford to, out of the thousands, if not millions, do go and graduate, they might discover a cure for the common cold, a relationship between all cancers and thus destroying them all, a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, or perhaps an Ion-powered vehicle to the next galaxy.
