Why don’t our commissioners just put out a contract for the lowest bid for our public safety workers? What they are doing to these folks has the same effect when their pay scale is less than those in neighboring counties and states. Does anyone want the lowest paid police officer or fireman answering their call for help when their life depends on them? I don’t.
I’ve heard Cobb has had the best training for deputies, officers and fire personnel for a long time. And we are spending lots more now. What is the purpose of spending tens of thousands of dollars training each of them if they soon leave to join other counties and cities? I wonder if Cobb is ending up with a lot of older public safety folks with high ranks and fewer new younger folks backing them up? I think I’ll check into this. Maybe you should too.
