DEAR EDITOR:

MDJ did a great service to Cobb for providing an excellent documentary of how the Braves Came to Cobb. It was a first-rate effort and those who contributed should be commended for the outstanding job of getting the details to the public.

History will be kind to Tim Lee, much more so than the electorate and the media. He was a businessman, a visionary and a tactician. Yet, he was also a politician of today’s ilk in thinking that he knew better. The reason Trump was elected in 2016 and Lee was given the boot were for the same reasons: people are tired of elected officials deciding for the great unwashed what is best for them and not giving them a choice in the matter. When Lee mentioned, “The people didn’t understand the millage issues at all; they have no idea how that millage works. … Nobody that was emotionally against it wanted to take the time to really understand how it worked.” This is the condensing attitude that Americans are tired of dealing with. Last I checked Cobb Citizens are some of the most educated in the nation; I think we would have understood it had we given enough time to decipher it and given a chance to have adequate input.

It was a shame that Mr. Lee lost his fight with cancer just days after this outstanding interview; however, it is also exceedingly sad that this is the pervasive attitude we are getting from the right and left. “Just trust us. We know better.”
