DEAR EDITOR:

Climate change is real. It has been going on for millions of years. Climate change is what turned a huge inland lake in California into Death Valley and a lush tropical forest in North Africa into the Sahara Dessert and caused the sea levels to rise and fall dozens of times. Climate change is what invited cliff dwelling Native American Indians into the southwest and it was climate change that drove them out.

Climate change is most likely the result of several factors: solar changes and planetary orbit paths of the earth and other planets that affect our position to the sun. Underwater volcanic activity can heat our oceans and alter current flows, seismic activity can also alter the flows of our oceans currents directing warmer water to the poles. Yes, the south pole was once green. Maybe not a tropical paradise but at least warm enough for prehistoric dinos.

There is a many-faceted solution to climate change but it will require a government working together. Not like we have now.
