DEAR EDITOR:

Today’s paper, May 8, shows the Concord Bridge takes another hit, No. 19. In the article it says the person’s insurance company will be charged $300-$500. That means through their premiums everyone that carries the insurance pays that charge.

A better solution is on the spot directly collect the money from the driver. It would be the same as a booted car, to get it released you must pay. Surely, the driver will have a credit card, debit card or checking account. If not, then impound the vehicle. Charging their insurance company does not put any consequence on the driver, but it does make others pay for the drivers’ inattention (stupidity).
