DEAR EDITOR:

I read an article that took three 3 AP writers to write around 200 words for a story that talked about the disparity of black people with COVID-19. The trio claims that “as the coronavirus tightens its grip across the country, it is cutting a particularly devastating swath through an already vulnerable population – black Americans.”

They say that of the 13,000 who have died from the virus, 3,300 of those people thus far are black, “about 42%”. The trio isn’t very good at math. The percentage isn’t 42%; it’s 24%, which is in line with the overall black population they claim at 21%. They even go so far as the quote the NAACP president who says “Everywhere we look, the coronavirus is devastating our communities.”

People of all races are suffering from this horrible virus. Why try to make to make COVID1-9 a racial thing? This is another example of FAKE NEWS.
