DEAR EDITOR:

Kudos to Ron Sifen for his guest column on zoning codes. I have long admired Ron’s thoughtful views on development in Cobb County. We have not always agreed, but he gives us all a reasonable debate.

Ron’s views on our suburban lifestyle are why so many of us have made Cobb County our home for many years. Changes to a proposed urban community invite loss of service, crime, and ultimately higher taxes.

Currently, I oppose the concept of cityhood for East Cobb. We now enjoy excellent fire, police, and emergency services. Taxes and spending are in a range many of us find acceptable. Change to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan threatens this.

Change to our suburban lifestyle will find many residents in East Cobb, me included, who opposed cityhood for East Cobb now supporting it in order to control the community we have lived in all these years.
