Shirley P. Wolcott Ward

Shirley P. Wolcott Ward, 99, of Athens, died Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 9, 1922, Shirley was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Elsie Wolcott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Donald J. Ward; son, Donald P. Ward; and sisters, Gloria Wornholtz and Bobette Rogers. Shirley is survived by son, Michael Ward (Donna) of Athens; daughters, Suzanne Gatliff (Bob) of Watkinsville, Constance Ward of Athens, and Gail Kohler (Wayne) of Eatonton; daughter-in-law, Peggy Ward of Lynnville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Shirley led a very full life, traveling the world as a military wife. She was an avid reader, loved quilting, knitting, cooking, and most of all, her family. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 958 Epps Bridge Parkway, Athens, Georgia, on Saturday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
