Danny Hanson, age 69 formerly of Smyrna, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017. A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, December 13 at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery. A 1966 graduate of Campbell High School, Mr. Hanson served in the US Army, 503rd MP Company.

He retired from AT & T after over 30 years, and had served as a reserve deputy with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s office for 10 years. Mr. Hanson had been a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock for over 30 years and was an avid motorcycle rider and hunter.

Surviving are wife Maggie Hanson of Acworth, daughters Sarah (Eric) Schindler of Acworth, Haley (Jon) McLean of Okinawa, Japan, son Ben (Lori) Hanson of Harrogate, UK, mother Helen Hanson of Smyrna, brothers Mike Hanson of Smyrna, Scott (Elizabeth) Hanson of Buford, grandchildren Abby and Josh Hanson, Zoe Schindler, and Jono McLean.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that people please make donations to First Baptist Church Woodstock’s “Faith Promise” ministry.
