Bernard Coleman Castellaw Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 18th after a six-week battle with multiple issues that began with a brain aneurysm. Coleman was born in Atlanta but moved to Smyrna during Elementary School. He graduated from Campbell High School and North Georgia Technical and Vocational School. He received a State of Georgia Vocational Teaching Certificate through the University of Georgia and taught Auto Body Repair at Morrow Senior High School, North Cobb High School, and Chattahoochee Technical College. At age 55 he graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services with an Associate Degree and then passed the Georgia Board of Funeral Service exam to become a Licensed Funeral Director. He retired from Castellaw Funeral Home after 8 years. As a young teen Coleman developed a love of classic cars and street rods which continued throughout his life. He loved traveling in his old cars which took him to car events around the United States. Most recently his travels were done by airplane in order to spend time with his granddaughter Anna Castellaw and her family.

He was a member of the Creepers Car Club for 56 years where he served in various officer positions. He was a very active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 42 years where he served on the Staff Pastor Parish Committee, the Trustees, the 50th Anniversary Committee, the Building Task Force, and served as Head Usher.

Coleman is survived by Ruth Johnstone Castellaw, his wife of 49 1/2 years; Son Cameron Coleman Castellaw; Daughter-in-Law Kelly Marie Castellaw; Granddaughter Anna Willow Castellaw, Sister Gale Baker, Brother-in-law Bobby Baker, Niece Brook Baker Ayres (Tom); Nephew Bret Baker (Malissa); Great Nephews Tom Ayres, Brooks Baker, Bailey Baker; Great Niece Avery Ayres; Cousins Beth Castellaw and Floy Harris (Randy).

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 25th at 11:00 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 244 Kurtz Rd., Marietta. A Visitation with the Family will begin at 10:00 just prior to the Memorial Service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers contributions to the St. Paul United Methodist Memorial Fund is appreciated. Arrangements are being handled by Castellaw Funeral Home, Smyrna, GA.
