One Kennesaw man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries and another is in jail after an early morning collision on George Busbee Parkway south of Frey Road.
According to Cobb Police, 27-year-old James Koontz was driving a gray 2003 Toyota Corolla south on George Busbee Parkway south of Frey Road shortly after 3 a.m. Monday. The car struck a curb and then continued onto the center median where it collided with a tree, police said.
The passenger of the vehicle, 27-year-old Christian Sams of Kennesaw, was transported to Kennestone Hospital with what officers called “life threatening injuries.”
Koontz was also taken to the hospital, where he was arrested after treatment.
As of Tuesday afternoon, he remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center facing charges of driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, and serious injury by vehicle. His bond is $40,000.
