Multiple lane closures are planned for Interstate 75 in Cobb County this weekend.

The closures, weather permitting, will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end at 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Two right lanes and the right shoulder on I-75 southbound will be closed between the Canton Road and Delk Road exits. Meanwhile, three right lanes of I-75 northbound are expected to be closed from the I-75/I-575 interchange to the Canton Road exit.

Overhead signs and message boards in the Marietta area will be on hand to alert drivers of the closures, according to GDOT.

The closures are needed for construction crews to continue resurfacing travel lanes.

Drivers are asked to plan alternate routes or allow extra time for delays if passing through the area.
