It was another great picnic at the Williams family farm on Hurt Road in Smyrna on April 27 when over 200 gathered for the 15th annual GB’s Stable and Williams Family Cookout. Among the 200 guests were members of the GB’s Stable community, Milford Baptist Church members, community leaders, neighbors, Georgia Tech friends of Terry Williams, LPL clients of Chad Williams and a host of other friends and family.
Guests included Judge Joyette Holmes; former Smyrna Mayor Harold Smith; Aveanna Healthcare CEO Tony Strange and wife, Tickled Pink Club founder Christine; Anglique DeLeva of Morgan Stanley, and husband Chris; Milford Baptist Church Pastor Clarence Howard; Lt. Col Ray Watford; PET Investments CEO Andy Abbajay and wife Heide; Brenden Myers of State Farm and girlfriend Dayna Roberts; WestSide Bank VP Daniel Stout and wife Kelly; Judy Moses; local politico John Delves; Ronnie and Cecile Sims; AL Graves; Nathan Tippins of Tippins Construction; Ellard and Nancy Mashburn; Jordan Lyle of Delta Airlines and wife Jamie; Joan Roberson of Lockheed Martin; Joy Gardner of Ameris Bank; Angle Act Capital CEO Bob Koven Jr; Mike Cason of Cobb County Tractor; and Billy Walters with niece Martha Adams.
This was an anniversary year because 70 years ago, GB and Vonceil Williams, the original proprietors, paid $5,000 for what was then 73 acres of farmland in rural Cobb County from Tommy Smith (the namesake for Floyd Middle School). Through the year,s the family has added to the tract, giving it the current 112 acres. Besides horse boarding, the property boasts a stocked lake open to the public for fishing and boating. Typically held on the 3rd Saturday in April, the event was changed this year to the 4th because Terry and Karen Williams’ daughter, Kadie, was married on April 20 at her brother’s other farm, The Farm at Silver Creek, south of Rome.
