The Marietta Museum of History, 1 Depot Street in Marietta, will have now through Nov. 2 a special sports memorabilia exhibit.

The A.G. Spalding Museum: “An American Sports Empire” is a special exhibit highlighting the private collection of sports memorabilia showcasing A.G. Spalding, his company and early American sports’ history. Not only was Spalding the master of a sporting goods empire, he was also a professional athlete, sportsman and marketing genius.

On display are items from early baseball, football, golf, fishing, cycling and basketball history. Spalding is currently celebrating the 125th anniversary of their official basketball.

Some exhibit highlights include vintage sports uniforms and equipment, and Babe Ruth’s 1935 Boston Braves cap. Other items highlight Cobb County’s own, Atlanta Braves’ history including a 1970 Braves uniform top, 1958 World Series bunting and Boston Red Stockings items.
