ACWORTH — Henry’s Louisiana Grill, a downtown Acworth restaurant, will be featured on Food Network’s “Ginormous Food” on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 8 p.m.
Friends and fans of Henry’s Louisiana Grill are invited to join Chef Henry and Claudia for a Ginormous Viewing Party on the outdoor plaza behind the restaurant on Friday, arriving as early as 6 p.m. The restaurant will remain open for regular business.
“Being on the show allows me to share my (restaurant) house with a bigger community,” said Chef Henry Chandler. “I want to share that moment with the many friends who helped build, and continue to support Henry’s every day.”
Chef Henry caught the attention of food aficionado Josh Denny in 2016 and was featured in the pilot of his now nationally syndicated show, “Ginormous Food.” Chandler’s Southern-inspired Cajun food landed the passionate and skilled chef a spot on the premier episode of the second season.
The show will feature a ginormous version of a Louisiana classic, using nearly 35 pounds of flash-fried seafood. The giant will be featured alongside some of the most popular menu items, traditional Atchafalaya Catfish and Henry’s Hush Puppies with remoulade.
On Saturday following the debut, guests will be able to enjoy a smaller version of the featured item at Henry’s.
Chef Henry Chandler and his wife Claudia opened Henry’s Louisiana Grill in historic downtown Acworth in 2000. As a farmer’s son with deep Louisiana roots and London-trained culinary expertise, Chef Henry’s food quickly gained a following. Now, a typical Friday or Saturday hosts up to 50 special-occasion celebrations, which is exactly what the charismatic chef enjoys.
In 2008, Chef Henry received a liver transplant after a nearly yearlong battle with liver cancer and failed treatment. This experience continued to motivate him to celebrate life, which translates to the restaurant’s atmosphere. His tagline, “come taste the good times,” invites locals to meet at the restaurant’s community tables or settle into a corner booth and celebrate together around “the taste and flavor of Louisiana.”
“I want people who watch the show to be entertained but also to be inspired to celebrate life every day,” said Chef Henry. “Henry’s is all about the communal experience of sharing great food, stories and laughter together. I love to welcome guests into my ‘house’ and watch them walk away with a new best friend.”
In addition to many local accolades, Chef Henry also won Fan Favorite as one of 10 chefs in the National Chef’s Taste Challenge 2016, a national farm-to-table chef’s challenge held in New Orleans.
