Weekend delays on Interstate 75 near Kennesaw will continue this weekend as work continues on the Steve Frey Bridge, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Contractors will impose a lane closure on I-75 northbound between the Chastain Road and Wade Green Road exits in Cobb County, until 5 a.m. Monday, the agency announced Friday. The closure will affect one left lane.

The closure is needed to ensure the safety of motorists, as well as workers, as they demolish concrete and rebuild bridge joints as part of the Steve Frey Bridge rehabilitation project, according to GDOT.

Message boards will give drivers advance notice of the traffic shift, and motorists are advised to expect delays, use signed detours and proceed with caution as they enter work sites.
