Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union has been recognized for the outstanding educational opportunities afforded by its comprehensive Financial Education Center.

This innovative financial resource, launched in 2016, offers a wide array of free on-site workshops and resources, in addition to online courses.

This week, the Delta Community Financial Education Center (FEC) was honored by Georgia Credit Union Affiliates with its Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award. The FEC also received the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award for a second consecutive year. These awards honor credit unions which show leadership in youth and adult financial literacy education and initiatives.

“Since its inception in 2016, our Financial Education Center has provided thousands of people with easy access to hundreds of free on-site financial education workshops,” said Hank Halter, Delta Community CEO. “We appreciate this recognition by our peers, and we’re grateful for the opportunities to serve our members and the broader communities where they live.”

The FEC has offered more than 200 free workshops since 2016, covering 20 distinct topics such as car and home buying, retirement readiness, investment planning, understanding and managing credit, paying for college and career planning. The FEC also provides a single online channel with course details, an events calendar and a convenient registration process so that Delta Community members and others may access the on-site workshops and online courses that meet their specific needs.
