Over the last few months, Cobb County police officers has seen an increase in cars being broken into and property stolen while the vehicles were parked in residential areas.

Precinct 5 will host a community town hall meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. to discuss this issue at McEachern United Methodist Church, 4075 Macland Road in Powder Springs.

Most of the thefts have occurred during the overnight hours. The overwhelming majority of the incidents involve vehicles that have been left unlocked and with weapons left inside. As a result, numerous weapons have been stolen.

The areas most affected by these crimes are the subdivisions near Macland Road, West Sandtown Road and the Mars Hill/Stilesboro intersection area.
