Cobb commissioners are expected to vote Tuesday to give Erica Parish, Cobb’s interim transportation director, the position on a permanent basis.
Parish has been interim director since April. She joined Cobb’s transportation department as deputy director in 2016 after a career with Paulding County’s transportation department.
“Erica has done a tremendous job since taking the reins of DOT earlier this year,” County Manager Rob Hosack said in a statement. “In addition to her broad base of knowledge about all facets of our transportation needs and goals, she has also proved to be an effective manager and communicator.”
Cobb’s previous transportation director, Jim Wilgus, resigned in April and cited a “stress issue” as his reason for leaving in his letter of resignation, county spokesperson Ross Cavitt told the MDJ at the time.
Parish received an annual salary of $140,234 as interim director, up from the $117,283 she was making as deputy director. Wilgus had an annual salary of $144,707 when he resigned.
Parish’s salary as director has not been set but will be determined before Tuesday’s meeting, Cavitt said Thursday, adding that it will not be “significantly higher” than her salary as interim director.
Cobb’s Board of Commissioners meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Cobb government building at 100 Cherokee Street in Marietta.
