Something has been missing from the Strand lately, and it isn’t charm. It’s our very own happy and humorous Andy Gaines!
Andy and his wife, Casey, welcomed their second child, Theodore “Teddy” Parker Gaines, on July 23. Teddy joins 2-and-a-half-year-old brother William in the Gaines party of four.
Andy, who is the facilities and events director for the Strand, was especially proud of Casey because she chose to have a natural birth. In the words of Strand General Manager Cassi Costoulas, “Wowee!”
“Casey was a trooper having a natural birth for a nine-pound baby; she is already back up and moving,” Andy said. “William has taken and ran with the big brother moniker. He loves holding baby brother Teddy. I’ve enjoyed the time settling into our expanding family.”
The Strand staff gave the Gaines clan a special surprise when they lit up the Strand marquee with a special congratulations message, which read: “Happy birthday to the newest little addition to the Strand family. Congratulations to the Gaines family from everyone here at the Strand!”
“I’m so thankful The Strand and The Strand family provided me the ability to stay at home and help with the transition. I hate that I’m going to miss the ‘Eagles/Alabama’ show on August 5, but I’m planning to bring Teddy to Callathon on August 9 before coming back fully on the 14th,” he added.
Congratulations, Andy! Enjoy your time with Teddy and family and we’ll see you soon.

You might have seen local musician and all-around-great-guy Chris Stalcup tearing up the Thursday night residency at The Hunt House in July, but his latest adventure is the release of his newest music video for the single, “You, My First Love,” directed by Nathan Mowery. The video is Chris’ best yet (in my humble opinion) and features a beautiful, haunting song about love and regret. He does a great job of portraying someone downtrodden, considering every time I see him he is wearing a big, bright smile and has plenty of hugs to go around!

Thank you so much for putting the notice in your column about the piano unveiling and dedication at the East Cobb Park on Saturday. A large crowd gathered for the event and a good time was had by all. The children from the art classes did such a wonderful job painting and decorating the piano and were recognized by Kent Nulty for their efforts.
I thought you might like to see this picture of Sunny Walker surrounded by her grandchildren as she spoke at the event.
