Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see up-and-coming singer-songwriter-musician Heidi Burson, performing on Saturday at the city of Smyrna’s Summer Music Series on the Village Green.
“I am a Nashville-based, indie soul/R&B artist that tends to lean toward some blues and jazz influences as well,” said Burson.
Burson — who has been compared to Etta Jones, Adele and Aretha Franklin — has an unprecedented vocal range and commanding voice. Her single, “Give Your Love Away” has played on BBC Radio and she’s the 2015 winner of Eddie’s Attic Open Mic Shootout, placing her with past winners John Mayer and Jennifer Nettles. She has toured extensively in the United Kingdom and also in Europe. She played the famous 100 Club in London opened by members of the Rolling Stones.
Burson will perform original songs as well as many recognizable tunes like “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, “Never Loved a Man” by Aretha Franklin, “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers, “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gay and “I Want You Back” by The Jackson Five.
Burson brings a unique opportunity to the community. “I am authentic. I am a very personable performer. I like to make the crowd feel like they are part of the show and part of the story. I am an up-and-coming artist and the audience gets to be part of that journey,” she said.
The show promises to be an evening of incredible entertainment. “The musicianship of the players I’m going to have with me, they’re spectacular. Couple that with my vocal abilities, it’s just an incredible show. The band I’m bringing is just killer. They’re great. I feel like rock star when they play behind me,” she said.
“I don’t think people will want to miss. It will rival things that they can see on TV or hear on the radio. In this case, it’s right on their doorstep or around the corner from their houses,” she added.
The show is an exceptional opportunity for people to enjoy this level of talent in their own backyards. “I think I bring something really special to the stage. I don’t often get to hit the communities around the big cities. This is a cool rare experience that the audience can be a part of. They’re going to hear familiar songs that they love with my spin on it. I like to call it a recreation of a classic sound by putting my own flair in it,” she said.
This is a family-friendly event. “I’m very personable. I’m not one of those artists that does the show and disappears. I’ll be there to mingle with everyone afterwards. People can feel free to approach me and get to know me and sign up for the email list and hear my story. We’ll just make a night of it. It will be fun,” Burson said.
A variety of merchandise such as CDs T-shirts will be available for sale that evening. The performance will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Village Green, at 200 Village Green Circle in Smyrna.
