Hiram had the top player and top newcomer among all Paulding high school girls basketball teams this past season.
The county’s five head girls basketball coaches voted for individual players awards and members of the All-County girls first and second teams and honorable mention recently.
They named Hiram sophomore Imani Smith as the Player of the Year, and freshman Erial Owens as the Newcomer of the Year for the 2018-2019 season..
Smith, a point guard, averaged 14 points, five rebounds, three steals and four assists per game for the Hornets. Owens, a forward, averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game.
North Paulding Head Coach Scott Green was named Coach of the Year.
Green just completed his seventh season as the head coach of the North Paulding girls team and led the team to a 14-12 overall mark.
His team placed three players, Taylor Cullinan, Emily Lupo and Aaliyah Foxx-Rome, on the All-County first team; and a fourth player, Aliyah Washington, as honorable mention.
Paulding County High placed one player, Faith LoveJoy, on the first team; and one, Rajah Drummond, on the second team.
East Paulding placed one, Kimberlyn Black, on the first team and one, Halle Verkerk, on honorable mention.
In addition to Player of the Year and Newcomer awards, Hiram had players Sydney Jones and De’Aja Dennard named to the second team.
South Paulding placed two players, Kasie Brewer and Hanna Moyer, on the second team and one, Rreanna Schultz, on honorable mention.
