Post 2 Commissioner Sandy Kaecher is set to host an open meeting on the Paulding County government's 2020 budget June 26 at Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at the airport at 730 Airport Parkway, located off U.S. Hwy. 278 about six miles west of Dallas.
Kaecher's meeting is planning to focus on the proposed 2020 county budget, which includes funding for areas of county government other than schools.
Some departments the budget funds include the sheriff’s office, jail, fire/rescue, courts, district attorney, county roads, animal control, zoning, planning, code enforcement and more.
Commission Chairman David Carmichael has proposed a $205.2 million budget for 2020 which is 9% larger than 2019 and includes 52 additional full-time positions.
It also assumes funding from a property tax rate of 6.5 mills for maintenance and operations, up from 6.079 mills in 2019; 2.20 mills for bonds and interest, up from 2.07 in 2019; and 3.1 mills for the fire department, which is unchanged from 2019.
