Wrecks on consecutive days this week in Bartow County led to the deaths of Georgia and Michigan residents.
Weyman Curtis Jones Jr., 39, of Canton died after the motorcycle he was driving struck an SUV head-on Wednesday, May 22, on Old Grassdale Road in central Bartow County, the Georgia State Patrol reported.
The 8:15 a.m. wreck occurred after the southbound 2019 Kawasaki EX400 failed to maintain its lane while negotiating a curve to the right on Old Grassdale Road near Cass-White Road, a GSP spokesperson said.
The motorcycle crossed over the centerline and struck a northbound 2013 Ford Escape driven by Alissa Dawn Dulaney, 32, of Cedartown. The impact caused Jones to be ejected from the motorcycle, the state patrol reported.
In a separate incident Tuesday, May 21, a 2006 GMC Envoy was traveling northbound on I-75 when it failed to maintain its lane about 5:10 p.m.
The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree near mile marker 292, between the exits for Ga. Hwy. 20 and Ga. Hwy. 61.
Driver Paul Mark Rose, 62, of Howard City, Michigan, was fatally injured, the state patrol reported.
The reports were incomplete and no other information was available, a state patrol spokesman said.
