Members of the Bartow County H.E.A.T. Unit attended the 15th Annual M.A.D.D (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Golden Shield Awards in Atlanta recently.
This event recognizes members of law enforcement agencies, DUI prosecutors and community advocates who work to “make a difference” in lowering the number of impaired driving deaths and injuries, supporting victims, and preventing underage drinking.
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety joined with M.A.D.D Georgia to recognize their partners in their efforts to keep highways and roads safe, a news release stated.
Deputy Corbett Tomsovic was awarded the bronze DUI pin for 36 DUIs in 2018 and a red pin for his D.R.E (drug recognition expert) achievement of 19 evaluations for 2018.
Deputy Philip Abernathy was awarded the bronze DUI pin for 34 DUIs in 2018 and a red pin for his D.R.E. achievement of 19 evaluations for 2018.
Sgt. Matt Pifer was awarded the silver DUI pin for 66 DUIs in 2018.
