A Cartersville woman was killed and at least one other person was injured May 2 after a head-on collision in north central Bartow County.

Investigators found Candace Redd, 34, dead at the scene following the 3:55 p.m. collision on Griffin Road north of Law Road, about a mile west of U.S. Hwy. 41 between Cassville and Adairsville, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

The GSP said its preliminary report showed Redd was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima south on Griffin Road near Law Road crossed it crossed the center line on a curve and struck a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country traveling in the opposite direction.

The Nissan’s left front reportedly struck the Town and Country’s left front, the GSP reported.

“The Town and Country was knocked off of the roadway to the right and the Nissan was facing northwest in the southwest travel lane,” the report stated.

The investigating trooper arrived to find Redd dead at the scene. The occupants of the Town and Country, including driver Tommy Estell, 83, of Cartersville, were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, the GSP reported.

A GSP spokesman said the report was incomplete.
