The city of Cartersville got its online bill pay system "back up and running" today after being the victim of a cybersecurity breach over the weekend of May 4, the city announced.

"Thank you for your patience," the city said on its official Twitter page.

However, it did not give an explanation about the attack or the source.

City leaders earlier this week said the government's Customer Service department was open but could not receive payments online.

The city offers water and sewer and electricity, among other services, that can be paid on one bill, a city official said.
