Bartow County's sheriff has identified a White resident and an estranged married couple as the three victims of an apparent murder-suicide Saturday, June 1.
Sheriff Clark Millsap said the three persons involved were identified as Nayeli Fernandez-Diaz, 34, and Matthew McArthur, 42, both of White; and Jose Flores-Neve, 37, of Kennesaw.
Flores-Neve and Ferndandez-Diaz were married "but reported to have been separated since last year," a sheriff's office news release stated.
Evidence and eyewitness information showed that Flores-Neve was in his vehicle following a vehicle carrying Fernandez-Diaz and McArthur on Saturday, June 1.
When they entered the dead end of Gray Road off Old Rudy York Road just after 4:30 p.m., Flores-Neve "confronted the pair armed with a rifle and pistol," the release stated.
"Numerous shots were fired and Flores-Neve turned his gun on himself after mortally wounding Fernandez-Diaz and McArthur."
Millsap earlier said deputies were dispatched to the area on a report of a person shooting at other people. Deputies arrived to find three people dead from gunshot wounds.
No others were believed to be involved, the sheriff said.
