An Acworth man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to child molestation and child pornography charges from a Paulding County incident in late 2017.
Daniel Allen Martin, 31, pleaded guilty in Paulding County Superior Court Sept. 8 to two counts of Aggravated Child Molestation and one count of Possession of Child Pornography from a December 2017 incident in Paulding County. Both crimes are felonies under state law.
Judge David Lyles sentenced Martin to life in prison for the conviction.
In addition, Martin is facing charges in Douglas County for similar incidents that took place there.
The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Division was alerted in December 2017 to a possible child molestation situation that occurred in Paulding County, a news release stated.
After conducting forensic interviews with the two victims, an arrest warrant was issued for Martin.
Detectives also obtained a search warrant for Martin's residence and discovered multiple electronic devices which contained information documenting the molestation of the two known victims as well as two other potential victims, said Sgt. Ashley Henson of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.
He said detectives were able to discover that one of the additional victims was a resident of Douglas County and detectives alerted detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, which launched its own investigation.
