More than 500 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets accepted diplomas during The Citadel’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 4, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Local graduates included:

• Philip Davis of Dallas, Social Science.

• Paul Carney of Dallas, Criminal Justice.

Berry College

Berry College in Rome recently welcomed its newest class of graduates for 2019.

Local graduates included:

• Ryleigh Ammons of Dallas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.

• Hope Lovelady of Dallas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.

• Ivy Wright of Dallas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.

The following area students were named to the Spring 2019 Dean’s List at Berry College in Rome:

The Dean’s List honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

Jacksonville State

Jacksonville State University conferred degrees to 774 students at its spring commencement ceremony on May 3. Paulding County degree recipients included:

• Charles Ball of Hiram

• Labecca Cunningham of Dallas

• Dalton Lee of Dallas

• Liza Norman of Dallas

• Morgan Smith of Dallas

• Anna Whitworth of Dallas

• Amy Young of Dallas.

North Georgia

Awards and scholarships were presented to members of the University of North Georgia’s Corps of Cadets at the annual Boar’s Head Brigade Military Awards Review recently on the UNG Dahlonega campus.

Cadets were presented with awards and scholarships for academic achievement, potential for leadership, and high moral character.

Among those honored were:

• Cadet Sgt. Ryan Carruth of Dallas who was presented the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, Lyman Hall Chapter Award. Carruth is studying finance at UNG.

• Cadet Sgt. Maj. Alison Gaynor of Dallas who was presented the A. Webb Roberts ROTC Scholarship. Gaynor is studying marketing at UNG.
