“American Idol” finalist Caleb Lee Hutchinson returned home this week to visit friends old and new.

Hutchinson attended a pep raily in his honor at South Paulding High School, from where he graduated almost a year ago.

He also saw area residents line the streets of downtown Dallas for a parade and concert Tuesday afternoon.

Thousands attended the Dallas events which were organized by "American Idol" producers and the city of Dallas for a segment on "Idol's" two-night season finale episode Sunday and Monday nights.

His hometown visit also included interviews with two radio stations and a TV station and an appearance at an Atlanta Braves game at SunTrust Park in Cobb County to lead the crowd in the song "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

He is competing against Maddie Poppe of Iowa and Gabby Barrett of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the 2018 "American Idol" title. The winner will be crowned Monday night.
