According to the Henry County Police Department, a disabled vehicle caused a fatality incident on I-75 in Stockbridge.

On March 5, at about 9:18 pm, Henry County First Responders were dispatched to a multiple vehicle incident on I-75 southbound in the area of Hudson Bridge Road in Stockbridge. A Honda Accord was disabled with no lights and occupying the right lane when a freightliner tractor-trailer struck two vehicles which then collided with the Honda Accord. The tractor-trailer and other vehicles then burst into flames. As a result of the crash, there were two fatalities. The driver of the Honda Accord, Leland D. Wilson, 40, of Thomaston and driver of an Audi Coupe, Sylvia P. Welch 59, of McDonough died as a result of the collision.

Additional victims involved were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed the disabled vehicle was the initial cause of the accident. At this time, the accident is still under investigation.
