Stockbridge Councilman Alphonso Thomas will host his eighth annual African American Heritage Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m. at the Merle Manders Conference Center located at 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge. The annual event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Saturday's keynote speaker is Bishop Michael A. Strickland of Victory Tabernacle Church International. Thomas will emcee the program along with Atlanta Fox 5 News Anchor Marissa Mitchell and Award -Winning Poet Steaven L. Misher.

"This annual celebration is for the entire community," said Thomas. "We plan to highlight the excellency of the African American Community on Saturday afternoon. February is designated as African-American History Month which is an annual observance to highlight and celebrate the achievements and history of African Americans. I am proud to celebrate the rich heritage of the African American Community in 2019. We hope to see everyone on this Saturday."
