A Henry County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison followed by life on probation for raping a 16-year-old girl.

Errik Slaughter, 47, entered a guilty plea on Dec. 19 to charges of rape and aggravated sexual battery. Henry County Superior Court Judge John A. “Trea” Pipkin sentenced Slaughter to serve 25 years in prison followed by life on probation. He also must register as a sex offender and have no contact with the victim.

The victim, who was acquainted with Slaughter, told the police in March 2018 that the defendant had been drinking when the rape occurred. Slaughter picked up the girl, carried her into a room and threw her on a bed before removing the girl’s pants and raping her.
