East Point City Councilwoman Stephanie Gordon has been named the volunteer of the year by Tri-Cities High School in East Point.

She was recently recognized for her service at the annual volunteer of the year luncheon hosted by the Fulton County School System.

“This recognition is incredibly humbling because it came as such a surprise,” Gordon said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Tri-Cities High School and all of our schools because education is critical to making our community great. This means everything to me.”

According to a news release, she has volunteered at Tri-Cities for two years, during which Gordon raised awareness about human trafficking through forums with Student Government Association students and staff.

The release stated she has also helped recognize the top 10 academic graduating seniors and the top 35 students, selected by teachers.
