The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the Henry County Police Department to purchase four Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the amount of $97,314.20, along with a 36-month maintenance plan in the amount of $9,980. The action came at a scheduled commission meeting. The motorcycles will be purchased from Killer Creek Harley Davidson and the motorcycles will be equipped with lights, siren and emergency equipment.

The police department’s motorcycle unit is versatile in the functions for the department. In addition to looking professional, the motorcycle’s size makes it highly maneuverable and the high acceleration response capabilities make them excellent tools for traffic law enforcement.

The unit will lead in funeral processions and are invited regularly to schools and special events, such as festivals or any local parades, to be displayed for children and guests who are always fascinated by motorcycles, stated officials.

Henry County Police Department will use Federal Seized Funds to purchase the motorcycles and maintenance plan.
