The local office of a Kuwaiti conglomerate now has a higher profile.

The Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance and South Fulton Chamber of Commerce combined to name Agility Global Integrated Logistics the third winner of the alliance’s small business of the month program.

According to a news release, the freight-forwarding company has had a presence in the aerotropolis, or city area around Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, for over 40 years.

Chamber President and CEO Dyan Matthews said its 80-employee Atlanta office has a small footprint but global impact, with clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

“We chose Agility because they play an important and vital support role for the some of the larger companies headquartered in our area,” she said in a statement. “As a logistics provider, they are one of the companies that keep things moving, literally.”

Atlanta Operations Account Manager Ashley DeYoung said its volume puts it in the top 10 international freight forwarders.

It operates on six continents and has 500 offices in 100 countries, she said, but does not forget its neighbors.

“We have, and will continue to be, a company that’s active in and supportive of the local economy and workforce,” DeYoung said in a statement.

Alliance Executive Director Shannon James said the company’s mission embodies the aerotropolis concept.

“We tell companies that they can ‘land here and take off,’ and any company moving goods or freight or merchandise through or to Atlanta can be helped by Agility,” he said in a statement.

The company is now eligible for the alliance’s small business of the year award, to be presented in December, the release stated.

According to its website, the company publicly trades its stock in Kuwait and Dubai, employs more than 22,000 workers and has annual revenue of more than $4 billion.

The Atlanta office is at 3505 Naturally Fresh Blvd. and its branch manager is Brooke Fleming.

The alliance will hold its next board meeting July 27 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the airport’s technical support campus, 1255 South Loop Road in College Park.
