With all the state’s schools having to close and hold classes online since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one local school found a unique way to connect its teachers and former students to its current students and honor them. Sarah Smith Elementary in Buckhead hosted a parade in which 50 to 75 cars driven by teachers, former students or their parents ventured through the streets in its school zone so current students could show their support by cheering them on from their neighborhoods. It was organized by parent Wynne Harpenau and teacher Susan Anderson.
