The Sandy Springs Police Department is investigating a crash that claimed the life of a man and a woman riding a motorcycle that struck an 18-wheeler on Interstate 285 April 23.
Sgt. Sam Worsham, a police spokesman, said at about 10 p.m., officers responded to the wreck on 285 west at Peachtree Dunwoody Road, where a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Marvin Roberson, 33, of Roswell, and ridden by Natalie Strauss, 26, of Sandy Springs, hit a Freightliner tractor trailer.
“Mr. Roberson accelerated onto the interstate from Ashford Dunwoody Road and struck the rear of the tractor trailer,” Worsham said. “Mr. Roberson was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Strauss was thrown from the motorcycle and was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. At this time, it appears that speed was a factor. No charges (were filed) against the truck driver. The investigation is still active.”
The police did not identify the 18-wheeler driver, and the Neighbor has requested his name be released.
