The Piedmont Park Conservancy, a nonprofit that protects and maintains the Midtown greenspace, normally composts the invasive plants that grow there. But since late April/early May, the conservancy has been donating them to Zoo Atlanta, which is using these plants as part of some animals’ diets. A conservancy spokeswoman said the park does not expect to run out of plants to feed the animals anytime soon.
